Goldy doesn't come as a shock. This was the most competitive camp in a while, and there will be more cuts that frustrate people I'm sure.

Brock is certainly a charismatic(something Hogtown is SORELYYYY lacking) sniping winger; but I would strongly consider:

      Brock & Bowey

Hogtown Humus: Kerfoot, Dermott. 2022 1st r pick(top-5 protection; switch to 2023 1st if they stumble into abyss)

BB's snail-like pace is often a glaring deficiency.

    3. JM_

take away the 1st top 5 protection and maybe.

Leafs don't have much we would realistically want.  Boeser trade would need either a more physical top 6 coming back, or a solid defensive RHD.  Leafs have neither.

  4. Its been 10 minutes since Brock got MVP... no "trade him while his value is high" threads yet? Desi? Desi?

There's probably a good reason people keep linking Karlsson to Tampa Bay. They're the team in the league that is most equipped to get Karlsson without ruining their prospect pool or making their current team less competitive.

      Elias Pettersson

He was probably asking for more than people wanted to pay so teams like the Canucks went for the cheaper options.  He probably wants a 4x4 and he's only played one year in the NHL and is already 29 so some teams may have stayed away from him.  We might have overrated him as well.  Poolman may not be as imposing a force as Hakanpaa but based on his solid play in the playoffs playing top 4 minutes Shaw and Benning probably felt he was a better option for what they want and a safer bet.

Fantenberg is IMO one of the best 6/7 defenseman in the league. Cheap/Reliable. I would be more than okay with bringing him back.

Pretty sure he had the highest points per 60 mins on the team last year. I'm sure his head is all healed and he's going to light it the &^@# up. He's looked way better than Goldy this preseason. Way better.

  16. Is the "lack of pushback" about about building a playoff team? Seems like the guys are far more committed to a win than reacting to cheap shots, and you do need to have that mindset to overcome everything to win in the playoffs. Maybe thats the design here.

it is very frustrating, even my wife last night who's usually quite calm about these things was like "where's the &^@#ing response for Boeser?"

      Maybe they're rope-a-doping the league.

Whatever it is they are committed to it.

    4. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

The common thread is that they've won all the games where their players have taken noticeable cheap shots (Pettersson vs. Florida, Baertschi vs. Vegas, Stecher vs. Chicago, Boeser vs. Colorado).

I think we'd all like to see some more physical push-back, but if they keep responding to that kind of crap with wins, I'll take it.

      HerrDrFunk

@Jimmy McGill Yeah, someone in Toronto interviewed Gagner a little while after he was sent down. He claimed Benning didn't speak to him, which was true, but Gagner tried to spin it like Benning didn't have time for him. What actually happened was that Green was the one who told Gagner he was being sent down, Gagner was offered the chance to speak to Benning about it then but Gagner declined.

Among all NHL defensemen with at least 22 games played in hits-per-game:

      Biega - 3.0 - 7th

      Del Zotto - 2.9 - 10th

      Gudbranson 2.5 - 19th
