  1. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen any Canuck/ex-Canuck more overrated than Stecher and I was a fan during the Mason Raymond days.

He works hard, shows a lot of heart, and is super easy to like as a person. That being said, he's a smallish 5-6D and I was fine moving on from him.

Loved him hear but in all honesty on a contender he really is a 6/7 Dman so it sucks losing the heart and soul of him but in the long run its better

If we compete hard enough next year, we could easily get that last wild card spot, and that's assuming SJ and Anaheim have unreal seasons again.

Purely dependant on what Ordrej Pavalec we see. If its the Pavalec of last year, they dont stand a chance, and if it's the Pavalec that ended the season, they have very good chance.

    4. pluralsight

      pluralsight

My guess is that they let Oshie and Williams walk after this season. That'll free up almost 8 million in cap space for Kuznetsov.

  8. In my absolute honest opinion, I think we could be a real front runner for Tavares. I’m not saying we’ll for sure sign him, but, we can offer him things most teams can’t.

@Chip Kelly sure we haven't landed one for a while but Vancouver makes as much or more sense as Montreal or even the NYI. Its not entirely out of the question, with the cap going up like I said the guy could make something like 14-15 mil in bonuses similar to McDavids contract (https://www.capfriendly.com/players/connor-mcdavid). But I do agree its very unlikely.

They have Lundqvist for now and Georgiev and Shestyorkin coming up. They’re fine for goaltending. As for their cap space if they move Namestnikov and Staal they’ll be fine.

    3. 48MPHSlapShot

      48MPHSlapShot

"Rebuilding the right way". Any time that phrase is brought up it annoys the crap out of me. No doubt they're in a good place now, but it's largely by virtue of the fact that A) they city they play in just happens to be the most desirable place in the entire NHL, and B] The had got lucky in the lottery. I wonder how their rebuild would look if they hadn't had lottery luck and they played in Regina instead of New York.

Just because I'm not a huge Trudeau fan doesn't mean I'm going to vote for a racist piece of garbage who supports barbaric social policies.  Cons need to lose the social conservative garbage if they want to be considered electable by me.  As of now, the only non Trudeau option is the NDP.

Really selfish reason:  "I want him on LITR (re: Canucks cap situation)"

How one should feel:  "Hope he's healthy"

    3. JM_

      JM_

if he is healthy then it does solve a top 6 issue for us, I do like the idea of Pearson-Bo-Ferkie as a 2nd line, and if Hoglander makes the team Bo-Ferkie is a pretty good line to begin your career on.

    4. Elias Pettersson

      Elias Pettersson

Ferland would actually put us over the cap if he were healthy.  We would need to trade Baertschi or Sutter to fit Virtanen and Gaudette under the cap.  Probably be easiest to try and trade Sutter at 50% retained.

  14. Harman Dayal suggested offersheeting Erik Cernak to a $4.2M/year contract, which would cost a 2nd round pick, his reasoning was Cernak is probably below Sergachev and Cirelli in terms of Tampa’s priorities to re-sign, so it’s not completely unrealistic. He then said Ekblad is a guy he’d be willing to trade Boeser for and honestly, I would be pretty down for those two scenarios.

    Hughes - Ekblad

    Edler - Cernak

    Juolevi/Rathbone - Myers

Get a little younger and nastier on the defense which we desperately need to do.

Wouldn't we need to re-acquire our second rounder in order to tender this offer sheet? It has to be your own second rounder from the upcoming draft if I'm not mistaken.

@Wilbur have you kept up with Ekblad much? He's basically just plateaud since entering the league. I don't think Boeser alone is that far off in terms of value. And that's coming from somebody who thinks Boeser is overvalued by Canucks fans.

edit: I didn't watch the Panthers much this year, wasn't aware of the season Ekblad had.

    3. peaches5

      peaches5

also if they matched the offersheet they couldn't trade him for a year so he would have to be exposed in the expansion draft.

It's the pitch for families.  They initially won't be allowed inside the bubble until a later stage of the competition.  Edmonton has made arrangements for them to tour around until they can join the bubble.

    3. King Heffy

      King Heffy

The best part of Edmonton is the departures area at YEG.  It's an awful airport, but at least if you're there, you're getting out of that hellhole of a city.  Good luck getting the NHLPA to agree to bringing their families to that dump.  The less they show the city, the better their chances though.

    4. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

I get the nuance behind the video, but there's something hilarious about basically sending the message 'Come to Edmonton! We'll actually help you spend less time in Edmonton while you're here!'

    4. NewbieCanuckFan

      NewbieCanuckFan

@Ghostsof1915  As well as positions they play.  Not hard set rules but it logically often takes a center, D, or goalie longer to develop than a winger (who doesn’t have nearly the same responsibilities as those other positions).  But as you said, there are no set time periods.

In some ways, it probably depends on what kind of computer you use.  I switched to Mac in the 00s and back then, it was infinitely better than Windows.  OSX Leopard was a fraction of the size of WinXP, more stable and genuine "plug and play" as opposed to "plug and pray"; Mac processors at the time (Motorola G4/G5 series) were also way ahead of Intel back then.  I still have a functioning 2004 Mac G5 tower that I use as a backup server and "jukebox" for my stereo (sure, I could use my laptop to do the same thing, but I like giving the old computer something to do).

I still use Macs, but I'm not nearly as enamoured of it as I used to be.  Today's OSX has become just as bad as "bloatware" as Windows is.  So for me, I kinda look back on the 00s as a "golden age"; at least as far as Mac users are concerned.
