Noting here that the Avalanche have kept a good young core together for 6 years, adding pieces but keeping a basic core intact, to develop some very close chemistry & synergy that allows for faster breakouts & a lot of over-all team speed. Congrats to you - Joe (Sakic).
 

Benning during Covid-times couldn’t commit to a core-crew long enough to do something like this. Benning & staff wouldn’t cast-off a problem-child (Virtanen) early enough. Benning & coaches didn’t deploy a squad who could play in multiple ways as cogs in a machine capable of replacing one another, when injuries occurred. 
 

Grit, determination, skill, true professionalism & some time to heal what has ailed them - collectively. That’s what it should take! 
 

Wishing Jim Rutherford & the new Canucks management team more good fortune, patience & smart cap-decisions in following this formula. Earning some more play-off time & opportunities at Conference & Stanley Cups depends on it!
